Volunteers
The Fremantle Volunteer Heritage Guides are a friendly group of volunteers who open the Round House each day for visitors and tell the history of the Round House.
They rely on donations to continue running so if you visit the Round House please remember that donations are greatly appreciated!
Interested in becoming a volunteer?
Guides are at the Round House every day of the year (excepting Christmas and Good Friday) in all weather conditions. Currently we have a team of about thirty Guides and would love to hear from you.
Round House Guide responsibilities include:
- Opening the Roundhouse
- Raising the flags each day.
- Participating in the firing of the 1 o’clock time gun
Volunteers are provided with a partial uniform and parking.
Training and all the relevant information about the heritage of the Round House and its Arthur Head setting is provided. Rosters are made out for two months ahead, with Guides nominating which days they are available on a rotating basis of either once a week or once a fortnight.
If you are interested in becoming a Guide please contact us – Drop in and talk to a Guide on duty, telephone or send an email and we’ll arrange an interview.
